St. Patrick’s Financial Update

The heating season will soon be upon us.  In the spring we pre-paid a block of propane at a locked in price.  Hopefully, we purchased enough to get us through the winter.

To help with your financial planning, notices are being given out next weekend indicating the balance of your pledge to the Capital Campaign.  If you do not receive a notice, your pledge has been paid off, however, we would still gladly accept any donations to the building fund. Our Loan fund balance is $416,713.03. Thank you for your generosity. St. Patrick's Finance Committee

World Mission Sunday…

Today is World Mission Sunday. It is a global effort to bring spiritual and material help to our brothers and sisters who long for hope and love that comes from knowing Christ’s love for them. Your kind support will assist all missionaries across the world. It will help new churches to grow, be strong and vital faith communities. Please write your name and which CHURCH you are supporting on the offertory envelope attached to this bulletin. Please continue to pray for all those who serve in mission countries and please be generous in your support of their work. May God bless you always.

 

There is a promise of marriage between Kyle  Murray, son of Sharon Murray and the late Dan Murray and Anna Nicholson, daughter of Joe & Jaynie Nicholson. They will be married on October 24th at St. Patrick’s Church, Dublin. Please pray for Kyle & Anna and the success of their marriage.  3rd Publication.

 

Thanksgiving Food Drive…

St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be having a food drive for the month of October. This is one small way in which we can help the less fortunate. Some suggested items for the food bank: peanut butter, hamburger helper, instant coffee, canned pasta, cake mixes, canned meat/chili,  toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc. Please leave your items at the back of the church.

Twilight Retreat…

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Women's League is holding a Twilight Retreat, Wed., Oct. 28th from 7-9 p.m. in the Church. A time to foster our spiritual growth and renewal. Led by Laura Reilly. Everyone is welcome. To register please call Brenda Biggelaar (348-9187) by October 24th. We need to know numbers for refreshments and handouts.

 

Think White in October…

October is C.A.S.E. month. We need to protect our children against sexual exploitation: W.R.A.P. White Ribbon Against Pornography. Please sign the white ribbon at the entrance of the church Oct.18th and  Oct. 25th. Our voices together can make a difference.

 

St. Patrick’s CWL…

St. Patrick's, Kinkora CWL will hold their next meeting on Wed., Nov. 4th following the 7:00 p.m. Mass.  Please join us for Mass as it will be offered for deceased CWL members.  Dianne Parr will be our guest speaker and will share her experiences in Palliative Care.  All are welcome to attend!

 

Your Vote Counts…

Proposed legislation--Bill C-384--an act to amend the Criminal Code (right to die with dignity).   Please write letters to your MP asking them to vote against this bill and stating that life is from conception until natural death.

 

Mitchell Logan K of C…

Next General Meeting will be held Oct. 20th at St. Vincent de Paul Parish Hall 7:30 p.m., please note the new meeting time, members are invited to come out and support our new Grand Knight Dennis O’Reilly and learn about our plans for this year.

 

Right to Life…

Stratford and District Right to Life:  Memberships, Raffle Tickets and Annual Dinner Tickets will be available on Oct. 18th and 25th at St. Patrick's Church.  Memberships ($20) can be paid in two ways: use pre-marked envelopes from your Sunday Offertory envelopes and put it into the collection; or pay at the back of the church before or after the 10 a.m. Mass on Oct. 18th and Oct. 25th. These memberships and donations help us to educate the public on Pro-Life Issues. 

Raffle Tickets can also be purchased for $2 each or 3 for $5.  Prizes are: Handmade Queen Size Quilt; Stained Glass Panel; Limited Edition Print; $200; Framed Print; Ladies Watch; and a Clock.  37th Annual Dinner will be held at the Army, Navy & Air Force Hall on Thursday, Nov. 5th.  Social at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m.  $25 per person.  Key-note speaker is former MP Mr. Tom Wappel who is now the Legal Advisor for Campaign Life Coalition.

Raffle tickets and Dinner tickets will be available following Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Sunday, Oct. 18th, Saturday, Oct. 24th and Sunday, Oct. 25th or by contacting Cathy Rops at 519-348-4200.

 

CWL Dues…

Watch for membership renewal envelopes with your Sunday offering envelopes at the beginning of November. Simply fill and drop in the offertory basket!

 

K of C Breakfast…

The Mitchell Logan K of C invites everyone to attend a Pancakes and Sausage Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 25th following the 9:00 a.m. Mass in St. Patrick’s Parish Hall, Dublin. Cash donation at the door would be appreciated. Student volunteers always welcome to come out and help.

Youth Ministry News…

“Thank you to all who supported and were involved with the youth lead Mass Thanksgiving Sunday in Dublin. I want to thank especially those that made the effort from the other cluster and Seaforth who see the vision of this as one ministry. Thanks to our choir leader Donna Campbell and to Mozart Gelinas (from Listowel) for leading us all in worship. It was beautiful. Please keep in your prayers the young adults that are participating in Theology of the Body in Toronto this weekend.”  Karen Doyle - CYM

Karen Doyle is presently employed by St. James, Seaforth; St. Patrick’s, Dublin; St. Joseph’s, Listowel; Sacred Heart, Wingham and St. Ambrose, Brussels as a youth minister. She is currently working with many young people from the area.

Seniors Alive…

SENIORS ALIVE are planning their next day trip for Wednesday, November 18th to the Black Forest Inn, Conestogo for dinner followed by an afternoon matinee. Our route will take us through Amish country with a visit to an Amish family business. Following the show, we will make a stop at the nearby Conestogo Mall and food court where there is a Tim Horton’s. Cost for the day is $75.00 with payment due by November 8. Sign up sheets are available at the entrance of our churches.

 

Parish Mission…

Write on your calendars the upcoming Parish Mission November 28th - December 2nd.  A Franciscan Friar of the Immaculate will be preaching the Parish Mission.  The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate are a new branch of Franciscan life.  They are flourishing with many vocations.  You can check them out on the internet at www.marymediatrix.com

They will also be holding a parish retreat in Mitchell on May 22nd, 2010 "A Day with Mary".
