Haitian Earthquake Relief…

The impact on the people of Haiti is enormous, following the massive earthquake which centred around Port-au-Prince. Pope Benedict XVI called for international generosity and solidarity toward our Haitian brothers and sisters who are suffering and in need. Donations can be made through your parish, please write your name and envelope number on the front of your envelope and state that it is for the Haitian Earthquake Relief. Your prayers, generosity and assistance are greatly appreciated.

St. Columban and Area…

Father Stephen Eckert Council Knights of Columbus building in St. Columban is in need of major updating. The Knights have several proposals they are debating, one of which would change the hall to a Community Centre. The hall will have to become wheelchair accessible. The Knights are trying to gauge community support for any of these proposals. Therefore the Knights are having a Public Meeting on Wednesday, January 27th at 7:30 p.m. in the Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Columban. Your participation at this meeting will determine the future of this building.

Family Literacy…

St. Patrick’s School, Kinkora is building an audio library for students to use in multiple ways at school and at home. We need parents and community members to read books and we will make a recording. Eventually, students will be able to access these digital versions on MP3 players, iPods, our desktop computers, CD Players and even through our website. Please contact Kathleen vonEuw 519-393-8097 kvoneuw@yahoo.ca or the office at school 519-393-5580 if you are able to help be a part of this exciting project. We are also looking for some gently used CD walkmans or mp3’s that the children could use in the listening center at school, for our new audio library.

Youth Ministry News…

This past advent season and Christmas has been very busy in this ministry. It was great to get to meet with so many university/college students over the holidays. It is also nice to see your interest in upcoming events. Next week I will have an insert of events for this year. This will not include evangelization team meetings or regular high school programmed evenings. So still stay connected to the bulletins. On January 30th, I am having a mini retreat/reflection day for our hard working core team. Please keep us in you prayers... God Bless you all. Karen Doyle - CYM
