Prayers and Sympathy…

Our prayers and sympathy are extended to the family of Michael Paul Von Euw, of British Columbia. He was the son of Louis and Theresa Von Euw. Our prayers are with you at this time of loss. There will be a Memorial Service for Michael on Saturday, February 20 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Refreshments afterwards in the parish hall.

 

First Thursdays…

Remember: February 4, 2010 is the FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH. The Holy Father extends to all the faithful during the special year of the Priest a plenary indulgence for all who perform a special prayer or good work for priestly holiness and priestly vocations (under the usual conditions).

 

Mitchell Logan K of C News…

Upcoming events: Free throw competition on Monday, February 1st at 7:00 p.m. at Mitchell District High School - East side entrance near the gym. The competition has age categories of 9 to 14 year old girls and boys as of January 1st, 2010. Awards will be given out for each age group competition with prizes for first, second and third place. Everyone will receive a certificate of participation. Complete the entry forms at your school and bring the form to the competition on February 1st. Must shoot 15 free throws. Sat. Feb. 13th, Pasta and Salads Dinner served after Saturday 5:00 p.m. Mass in St. Vincent de Paul Hall, prepared by Knights. Proceeds go towards the room renovations at the Kinkora rectory for Fr. Gutowski; General meeting at St. Vincent de Paul on Tuesday, Feb. 16th at 7:30 p.m. All members re invited to attend and have your opinions heard; Friday. Feb. 19th, Euchre party in St. Vincent de Paul Hall at 7:30 p.m., organized by the Knights. There will be an Executive meeting at Steve Goettlers on Tuesday, March 2nd at 7:30 p.m. Note: The monthly bulletin is always available online at http://www.kofc9252.ca. CWL Meeting…

St. Patrick’s Kinkora CWL invite you to their regular meeting on Wednesday, February 3rd at 7:30 p.m. at the Kinkora Community Centre. All ladies welcome to attend!

 

Note of Thanks…

Thank you to everyone who purchased chocolate chip cookies last weekend. We collected more than $266.00 for the children of Haiti. A donation will be made through the Haiti Relief Fund at the parish. We hope you enjoyed the cookies! Sincerely, Christopher, Kathryn and Nicole Simmons.

 

Poverty Awareness…

Janice Kolkman and Sarah Donkers will be participating in a poverty-awareness trip to the Dominican Republic with St. Michael Secondary School in the middle of February.  They are gathering the following items to donate to the people of Consuelo:

  • Personal items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, deodorant, personal hygiene products;
  • Medicines such as advil, aspirin, cold medicines, cough medicines, tylenol, multivitamins;
  • School supplies such as small calculators, crayons, glue, pens, pencils, erasers, pencil crayons, scissors, tape, washable markers;
  • Household items such as small flashlights and batteries;
  • Clothing such as underwear, socks, t-shirts.

Youth Ministry Events…

On February 3rd, I will be going in to St. Michael’s to be a part of a day for grade nines.

I will be making a presentation on healthy relationships. It is a whole day program. Please keep this day in your prayers. Also, February 3rd is our first evangelization team meeting for the year. It will be held in Dublin from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. I am very excited about this evening. NET ministries called me Tuesday afternoon and asked if I would find

billets for a NET team coming through our way to rest before they have to be in Mississauga. They asked if I had any ministry they could be a part of. 15 Net'rs will be joining us for our evangelization team meeting. I pray for good weather. Karen Doyle

Karen is presently employed by St. James, Seaforth; St. Patrick’s, Dublin; St. Joseph’s, Listowel; Sacred Heart, Wingham and St. Ambrose, Brussels as a youth minister. She is currently working with many young people from the area.

This weekend is a chance to check out what is involved in a call to the priesthood and to spend some quiet time with the Lord to figure it out. Location: St. Peter’s Seminary on February 26-28 and is open to men 17 years of age and older. Cost is $20 with registration.
